Artificial Turf Maintenance

Artificial lawns are low maintenance, not no maintenance.  Maintaining your synthetic grass lawn is almost too easy!  You will save plenty of time and money by not having to mow, fertilize, or heavily water your lawn. You can have a lush green yard to enjoy and clean-up is simple, effective, and fast!

The amount of maintenance required will depend on your specific situation. For example, if you have pets, children, or are surrounded by trees, your synthetic turf will require a little more clean-up effort.

As with any landscape area, a little TLC goes a long way when it comes to the longevity of your synthetic turf.  Use a leaf blower or a rake to clear off fallen leaves, branches, and other debris that is on top of the artificial grass. This will help your grass stay clean fresh.  Spray your turf once a week with a hose to remove dust, dirt, or pollen. This will also help prevent unequal distributions of infill.  Inspect your lawn for moss or algae, especially in damp weather and in shaded areas.

Enjoy your new synthetic turf lawn to the fullest.  Most spills can be washed away by spraying it down.  For the tougher stains, just use a mild soap mixed with lukewarm water.  You can also use an equal part mixture of vinegar and water to scrub out the stains.  Always rinse your lawn thoroughly.

As with any structure, furniture, or piece of equipment, regular maintenance is required to maintain tip-top performance and appearance.  Think of your vehicle’s maintenance.  You most likely keep the oil changed, the tires rotated, and the outside washed frequently to keep the vehicle running properly and looking it’s best.   Your synthetic turf grass is no different when it comes to maintaining the appearance and functionality.  How synthetic turf is made will also determine the type of maintenance program.

Let’s face it depending on the traffic level that your artificial turf is receiving it will be subject to spills, and debris over time.  If the artificial turf is on a sports field, for example, it would be very common to find broken pieces of sports equipment, bobby pins, magnetic objects, dirt, unwanted human and animal fluids and secretions.  This type of field is constantly being contaminated.   Other locations such as putting greens, lawns, patio areas, all receive different types of traffic and contaminates.
